The Blade Runner

Observations Day 1 The scene looks like outer space The setting of the first scene looks like a combination of the Egyptian pyramids and star wars Flying cars, bright light-up/led signs, crowded city streets Coca-Cola signs on billboard Replicants Why are they searching for them? Testing to discover them Rachael does not know she is a replicant Deckard could tell based on his questioning Why are characters leaving small pieces of origami?  Rachael's implanted memories prove that she is a replicant How does she have emotion? Replicants are looking for J.F. One pretends to be a lost, hungry, homeless orphan to get inside his home Day 2 Deckard is tasked with killing Rachael Is he falling in love with her? 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

Space Odyssey Observations: Ape's fighting against one another Why are they rivaling? I found it very interesting how one side ganged up on a member from the opposing side and beat him until he was dead Russians The Russians questioning about the private mission was very interesting Real-world connection Technology throughout the film It is incredible that the creators imagined what they thought our future would look like and actually got so many things correct Things like flat screens and voice control HAL Very creepy voice Plotted against the humans Even killed them Tried to outsmart Dave Then proceeded to plead for his life as if he was human This failed and Dave shut Hal down Begs the question: Was Hal actually afraid of death or was he trying to stay 'alive'? Dave zooming through the galaxies The creators of these scenes have very creative and innovative minds  The colors, zooming in and out, the view of planets and galaxies All combined with music that kept you excite...

Love Death & Robots

Beyond the Aquila Rift  The animations in this short film reminded me of the movie The Polar Express . The production team of The Polar Express used motion capture technology to animate realistic-looking human characters. Motion animation is created by using sensors placed on actors' skin to record a person's movements and translate them into computer animation. Similarly, the producers of Beyond the Aquila Rift  used rendered 3D modeling mapped over motion capture. Beyond the Aquila Rift  definitely used more cutting-edge animation, especially because The Polar Express  was created back in 2004. I simply found it interesting how similar they appeared especially with the difference in time in which they were created.

Metropolis

My Observations Conflicts:  Rich vs. poor love dynamic Freder from "club of sons" and "eternal garden" Maria from the underground ★Do you believe that opposites attract?  ★Is there an ulterior desire to see how the other side lives? ★Do you think these scenarios occur in the real world or is it a movie phenomenon? Examples:  Pretty Woman, Aladin, Cinderella, Maid in Manhattan Movies in society today still use this dynamic Good vs. evil Maria represents the good/bringer of hope John and the mad scientist represent the evil Seeks to destroy Maria's built trust and hopefulness within the working population Took Maria's beauty and exploited her for his own gain Sheds light on men's view of women as objects- still present in our society Manipulation  They used the robot clone of Maria to incite rebellion to give him cause to put them down I found similarities to our society with the distrust in information on social media Today anyone can make anything up a...
