Space Odyssey

Observations:

  • Ape's fighting against one another
    • Why are they rivaling?
    • I found it very interesting how one side ganged up on a member from the opposing side and beat him until he was dead
  • Russians
    • The Russians questioning about the private mission was very interesting
    • Real-world connection
  • Technology throughout the film
    • It is incredible that the creators imagined what they thought our future would look like and actually got so many things correct
      • Things like flat screens and voice control
  • HAL
    • Very creepy voice
    • Plotted against the humans
      • Even killed them
    • Tried to outsmart Dave
      • Then proceeded to plead for his life as if he was human
        • This failed and Dave shut Hal down
        • Begs the question: Was Hal actually afraid of death or was he trying to stay 'alive'?
  • Dave zooming through the galaxies
    • The creators of these scenes have very creative and innovative minds
    •  The colors, zooming in and out, the view of planets and galaxies
      • All combined with music that kept you excited and engaged
  • Dave's death
    • This part was very confusing for me
    • Was this actually Dave aging and eventually passing away and becoming reborn?
    • Was this whole scene just his life flashing before him as he died?
    • How was he reborn?

 Pinocchio By Carlo Collodi Geppeto carves the magic wood into a puppet Pinnochio is mischievous right off the bat His actions lead to Geppeto getting arrested A Cricket tries to help Pinocchio Pinocchio kills the cricket by throwing a hammer Geppeto returns home He fixes Pinocchio's legs after he burned them by falling asleep next to the fire Pinocchio promises to attend school Pinocchio attends a marionette show  He gets called up on stage and ruins the performance ' The owner of the show was ready to use Pinocchio for firewood, but after telling him about his poor father he gave him 5 gold coins Pinocchio meets the Cat and the Fox Tries to convince him that he can bury his coins to grow more They eat dinner and leave him to pay The Cat and Fox attempt to rob him disguised as bandits  They hang him in an attempt to get him to give up the coins Geppeto is swallowed by the "terrible dogfish" Pinocchio offers to help a lady  She turns out to be the blue-haired fairy S...

  If we are part human/part machine, do Asimov’s rules still apply? A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
